Strategies for Adding Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives in Solo and Boutique Firms
Course Information
Content Level: Intermediate
NAPFA Subject Area: K - Marketing and Practice Management
Course Description

As a solo firm owner not looking to hire, or a small/boutique firm who hires infrequently, it may seem that implementing DEI initiatives is difficult or near impossible, but there are strategies for implementing DEI initiatives at firms of all sizes. After attending this session, firm owners and employees of small/boutique firms will come away with actionable steps to implement a DEI policy, hire and retain a diverse staff or work with diverse vendors, and reach a wider audience of potential clients. The purpose of this talk is not to make the case for DEI, but to provide next steps for advisors who are committed to making a difference but aren’t sure where to start.

Learning Objectives
  1. Learn how to appeal to a wider range of clients by reviewing firm websites and materials to ensure they represent diversity and inclusion and are welcoming to all potential clients.
  2. Understand the elements of a DEI mission statement to be explicit about working with clients and communities from different backgrounds.
  3. Learn how to successfully professionally engage with other vendors and contractors who have diverse ownership.
