Course Description

The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) is set to sunset at the close of 2025, heralding significant changes in transfer tax exemptions, income tax rates, and potential threats to grantor trust planning. This comprehensive webinar with estate and tax expert Steven Siegel will focus on critical estate planning issues. Siegel will delve into these impending adjustments and provide attendees with essential knowledge and actionable strategies to navigate the evolving estate and tax landscape successfully.

This Partner Solutions webinar is sponsored by FP Alpha.

Learning Objectives
  1. Explore the implications of the reduction in transfer tax exemptions, particularly in light of the current administration’s budget plan, where transfers may become taxable, and valuation discounts limited to specific scenarios
  2. Learn about strategic planning opportunities that address gift tax and generation-skipping transfer tax exemptions, emphasizing the importance of maximizing these exclusions before the 2025 sunset
  3. Understand the benefits of creating a spousal lifetime access trust (SLAT), a powerful tool for utilizing federal transfer tax exclusion amounts while safeguarding the donor's gift tax exclusion, and understand how SLATs function similarly to bypass trusts, providing income access and meeting the needs of surviving spouses
  4. Learn the advantages of dynasty trusts, designed to provide life estates in property for multiple generations of beneficiaries, offering not only financial benefits but also asset protection for the future
  5. Explore the strategic use of ILITs in life insurance planning, where trust proceeds can provide income and principal for spouses and children without inclusion in their estates, ensuring efficient wealth transfer
  6. Gain insights into Roth IRA conversion strategies, capitalizing on current income tax rates before anticipated increases, and unlocking tax-free withdrawals in the Roth IRA
