Course Description

With more than 80% of CFP® certificants identifying as White, it is easy to avoid conversations about race in the profession., In this roundtable, participants will dive headfirst into the critical state of race relations in America as it pertains to the financial planning profession. Explore concrete strategies to gain cultural awareness and education, ideate ways to change behaviors, and make
change in the industry.

Learning Objectives
  1. Be an agent of change through empathy and understanding
  2. Practice awareness: ask questions, be comfortable with the uncomfortable, and avoid willful blindness
  3. Practice humility: when there is a problem, seek ways to understand and understand entitlement
  4. Practice empathy: acknowledge discrimination, stand up for what is right, seek out information, and learn how challenges  of race makes others feel
  5. Be a mentor: Give a hand up, not a handout

Christopher Dale, CFP®, CeFT®

Christopher Dale's firm specializes in helping those in grief navigate financial matters. Between 2008 to 2012, Dale lost his mother, father, paternal grandmother, and oldest son. Based on those tragic events, he changed the trajectory of his career to solely help individuals in grief. Dale honed his education by becoming a Certified Financial Transitionist® in order to help clients navigate through major life events and financial transitions that accompany them while navigating death, grief, a career, and the rise of his firm. Dale also consults other advisors on how to successfully work with clients in grief.
