Demystifying Leadership and the Art of Giving Feedback
Course Information
Content Level: Foundational
NAPFA Subject Area: K - Marketing and Practice Management
Course Description

In a world filled with overwhelming resources on leadership, it might seem like a mystery to lead others and give effective feedback. If you feel that way, you’re not alone! Whether you’re working with a contractor, thinking about your first or next hire, growing a team as an enterprise practice, or anywhere in between, this presentation is designed for you. Presenter Daniel Kopp will draw upon his years of leadership experience as an Air Force officer to help fellow RIA owners reimagine their approach to leading others, set expectations, and master the art of effective feedback. He will also teach the military technique of debriefing – how to review an event and drill down to the root cause of problems. This feedback method showcases contributing factors and provides instructional fixes to help your team develop. The session will also include some case study examples and opportunities to practice in group activities.

Learning Objectives
  1. Create a leadership model for setting clear expectations
  2. Implement ongoing feedback that leads to personal growth
  3. Understand how to break down an event or problem, review contributing factors, determine the root cause, and provide instructional fixes for each problem
