Before her career in academia, she founded a financial planning firm focused on women's financial wellbeing and worked as a financial planner and banker at several Fortune 500 firms. Dr. Reiter has recently received recognition for her work in financial planning including: 2020 Omicron Nu Research Fellowship, 2020 Center for Financial Security Junior Scholar (University of Wisconsin-Madison), 2019 Financial Planning Association (FPA) Best Research Award, 2019 40 Under 40 Award (InvestmentNews), and the 2018 FPA Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship.
