Course Description

This presentation sets forth the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s new marketing rule as it pertains to uncompensated testimonials and endorsements. The presentation will specifically cover when a third party's communication becomes the advisor's marketing, the rule's application to an advisor using a testimonial in its social media marketing, and the corresponding disclosures required in the use of testimonials and endorsements.

Lori Neidel, J.D.

Lori Neidel, J.D. is the founder and head of the Law Office of Lori J. Neidel, LLC, a law firm providing legal services to registered investment advisors. She also founded and heads Adviser Compliance Services, a compliance consulting firm providing outsourced compliance services to independent RIAs.

Previously, Neidel was the Chief Enforcement Counsel at the Missouri Securities Division whereby she led the Division’s staff of examiners in carrying out the Division’s examinations over broker-dealers and investment advisors. She also led numerous enforcement actions protecting Missouri investors. From 2011 until 2015, Neidel served as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Missouri State Employee Retirement System, the state of Missouri’s $9 billion public pension retirement fund.

Neidel obtained both her undergraduate degree and law degree from St. Louis University.
