Jennifer Dazols and Lisa Dazols are a dynamic couple known for their impactful work in the LGBTQ+ community. Based in San Francisco, they left their conventional jobs to embark on a journey of discovery and advocacy. Their mission was to find and document the stories of extraordinary LGBTQ+ individuals around the world, whom they affectionately termed "Supergays."
Their adventure took them to fifteen countries across Asia, Africa, and South America. They sought out leaders and activists who were making significant strides in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in regions where such freedoms are often limited. This journey culminated in the creation of their documentary, “Out & Around,” which highlights the resilience, courage, and achievements of these global LGBTQ+ heroes.
The Dazols’ work extends beyond filmmaking. They are passionate storytellers and advocates for equality, using their platform to raise awareness and inspire change. Their TED talk, “This is what LGBT life is like around the world,” delivered at TEDWomen 2015, shares their experiences and the powerful stories of the individuals they met.
