Research has shown that far too many lower-income and first-generation students do not apply for financial aid for — let alone attend and graduate from — the top colleges and universities for which they are qualified. To complicate things further, the FAFSA Simplification Act will make sweeping changes to an already confusing and complex financial aid process.
