In this session, we will discuss the various avenues by which financial planners can play a role in divorce cases. We will review when, why, and how financial planning factors into dissolving a marriage, and how financial planners serve as information sources and beyond in assisting in the dissolution process.
This session will identify what attorneys, arbitrators, and judges look for in a reasonable financial settlement and how that differs from financial planning projections. In addition, attendees will learn how assumptions and objectives between the two professions might differ.
Lastly, the presenter will discuss ways that attorneys and financial planners can avoid giving conflicting advice and why sometimes the best advice is not to give any.
