You are running a successful business, busy serving clients, and trying to grow your firm. But how focused are you on maximizing the future value of your business? Gain perspective from two NAPFA veterans who recently completed a strategic partnership with an acquiring firm. Participants will hear from the President of the acquiring firm as he shares insights from the frontlines of M&A to help you better understand the business levers that will ultimately drive firm value.

John Ritter, CFP®, CFS

John K. Ritter, CFP®, CFS, is the co-founder of Ritter Daniher Financial Advisory LLC. He is a former NAPFA National Board Member and was co-chair of the 2008 NAPFA National Conference Committee. Ritter has been a member of the NAPFA Public Policy Committee since 2011 (Chair 2011-2013). He was a member of the Financial Planning Coalition from 2011-2014 and has been a member of the NAPFA Ethics Committee since 2015 (Chair 2016-Present). Ritter was named as one of the “30 Most Influential People” in NAPFA’s 30-year history in 2013.

Jeffrey Daniher, CFP®, AEP, CTFA, CLU

Jeffrey E. Daniher, CFP®, AEP, CTFA, CLU is the co-founder of Ritter Daniher Financial Advisory LLC. He is the former dean of NAPFA University - Estate Planning and was co-chair of the 2008 NAPFA National Conference Committee. Daniher has been a member of the NAPFA Compensation Committee since 2015 and was a member of the CFP Board Practice Standards Committee in 2021.

Stuart Silverman

Stuart Silverman is the Chairman of Bluespring Wealth Partners. A consummate entrepreneur, Silverman has successfully developed and sold four different businesses. In 2003, he founded the Fusion Advisor Network, a practice management and business-consulting network that managed close to $10 billion in assets. Kestra Financial acquired the business in 2012, with Stuart staying on as Chairman Emeritus.

Since 2012, Stuart has continued to share his industry knowledge and business expertise with advisors, while taking on a bigger role at Kestra Financial. He has helped the team grow Kestra Financial into one of the leading independent financial services firms with 2400 advisors and over $125 billion in Assets Under Advisement.

In early 2019, Stuart expanded his relationship with Kestra Financial and agreed to launch a wholly owned subsidiary called Bluespring Wealth Partners where he now serves as Chairman.   Bluespring Wealth is a firm that specializes in Mergers and Acquisitions of Wealth Management firms all over the country.

In addition to his work with Kestra Financial, he frequently lectures on the fundamentals of business management and consults with high-end advisors on how to become effective entrepreneurs while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

During his career, Stuart also founded, launched and sold a Belizean real estate development company, a school photography business, and a group benefits firm. All three continue to grow and thrive as profitable and successful businesses.

Passionate about education, Stuart has served for more than eight years as a board member, volunteer, mentor, and leader at Yonkers Partners in Education. This impactful organization confronts the challenges of a low-income, urban school district by providing families with equitable access to the critical tools and services necessary for college success.

Stuart earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from the University of Rochester. He developed his financial services expertise over the course of a successful three-decade career in the industry, serving as a producer, manager, and high-level executive of a Fortune 500 company. 

David Canter

David Canter is widely known across the RIA industry. As President of Bluespring Wealth Partners, David is focused on positioning our organization as one of the premier acquirers in the industry. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations and identifying new areas of opportunity and growth for Bluespring Wealth Partners.

In his previous role as Executive Vice President and Head of the RIA segment for Fidelity Clearing & Custody Solutions, he led a team that provided a comprehensive custody platform, brokerage services, trading capabilities, and practice management and consulting services to registered investment advisors. David was responsible for driving the execution and results of sales and relationship management of more than 2,800 RIA firms across eight territories throughout the U.S.

During his career, David has held numerous positions at several well-respected financial institutions gaining experience in multiple facets of the industry. From Head Legal Counsel of Schwab Institutional, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at Post Advisory Group, and other roles focused on practice management, trading and operations, consulting, and investments—making David a well-rounded leader in the RIA space.

David currently sits on the board of two charitable organizations, including Invest in Others and Foundation for Financial Planning. Invest in Others is an organization that helps financial advisors make the most of their charitable work and create a bigger impact within their communities. Freedom For Financial Planning provides veterans, cancer patients, and people in crisis access to pro bono financial planning and financial resources. 

In 1990, David received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore Law in 1993. He currently holds his FINRA Series 24 license and is a California State Bar member.
